Following up on shows like the King’s Singers and artists from the Juniper Chamber Music Festival, Cache Valley Center for the Arts will feature a group of artists from the Windham Hill roster in an evening of acoustic music with pianist Liz Story, Celtic harpist Lisa Lynne, and special guest singer-songwriter Barbara Higbie on February 13 & 14 at 7:30 pm in the Ellen Eccles Theatre.
"These three Windham Hill Winter Solstice artists are some of the finest artists on the Windham roster.," said Wally Bloss, executive director of the Cache Valley Center for the Arts. "Join Barbara Higbie, Lisa Lynne and Liz Story for a delightful evening of musical virtuosity and Valentines Day delight.”
A classically-trained pianist, Liz Story studied at the Juilliard School of Music and Hunter College. But it was hearing jazz pianist Bill Evans that changed the course of her career. After deciding to study jazz piano and improvisation, Story began composing music. These compositions drew the attention of Windham Hill's Will Ackerman, who signed Story to record a debut album, Solid Colors. Her subsequent recordings have included Night Sky Essays, Unaccountable Effect, My Foolish Heart, The Gift, Liz Story, 17 Seconds to Anywhere, and Welcome Home: The Very Best of Liz Story. These best-selling, critically-acclaimed albums attest to the popularity of Story's unique style, which fuses her classical background with a wide range of styles embracing jazz, folk, pop and impressionistic music.

It was a pivotal day in the life of Lisa Lynne when she hopped a fence into a Renaissance Faire outside of Los Angeles and first spotted the Celtic harp. A self-taught guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Lynne found that she could play the harp at first touch. Her understanding of this timeless instrument has translated into a nearly unsurpassed track record of success, with recent releases through Windham Hill and New Earth Records placing in the Billboard Top 20 and selling over a half million albums. In addition, Lynne is Musician in Residence at Los Angeles' City of Hope National Cancer Center, where her Harps for Hearts Concert and Workshop Series uses the harp as a means to promote healing, creativity, and well-being. Her contemporary acoustic sound transcends the traditional boundaries of Celtic, New Age and Folk Music.

Grammy-nominated composer Barbara Higbie combines elements of jazz, folk, classical, African, Brazilian and Celtic music to create unique compositions that are lyrical, rhythmically playful, and harmonically inventive. A longtime Windham Hill recording artist, Higbie is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and championship fiddle player as well as a pianist and composer, known for her work as co-founder of the acoustic super-group Montreux, her two award winning solo vocal recordings Signs of Life and I Surrender, and her two duet releases with singer Teresa Trull, Unexpected and Playtime. In addition, Higbie has played on more than 45 albums, recording with artists ranging from Bonnie Raitt to the Kronos Quartet and David Grisman.
Women of Windham Hill is the perfect Valentine’s Day Concert.
