Because Congress took their time in attempt to fix the AMT (alternative minimum tax) more than 3 million people will have to wait to get their expected refunds. Is this me??
There are 5 forms that the Internal Revenue Service will not begin processing until February 11, 2008. These forms are:
Form 8863 - Education Credits
Form 5695 - Residential Energy Credits
Form 1040A - Schedule 2 - Child and Dependent Care Expenses
Form 8396 - Mortgage Interest Credit
Form 8859 - District of Columbia First Time Homebuyer Credit
The Child and Dependent Care Expenses and Mortgage Interest Credit will affect the most people. If this is you, then Feb. 11 is your target date. You may file your returns WITHOUT these credits and then ammend them later. But that is a lot of work, and that will be a decision that you and your tax preparer will have to work out.
So, plan ahead, and make your appointment for Feb. 11 today. It will probably be a busy day.

Well doesn't that just bite!! I mean they have had my money all year anyway you would think they would at least get it back to me within a normal time.
