In hindsight, it might not have been such a good idea to head to the farmers’ market on an empty stomach.

Sure, I was delighted to sample everything from mango salsa to asiago basil bread as I perused the market stalls, and that smorgasbord made for a delicious breakfast. But my empty stomach led to an empty wallet before long. I was easily tempted by homemade tortillas, two pounds of beautiful rhubarb, some delicious mini apricots, and a loaf of that asiago basil bread. Oh, well – there are worse ways to spend my money.

I’ve been to quite a few farmers’ markets, from California to Missouri, and my first trip to the to Southeastern Idaho Farmers’ Market lived up to my standards. There was a band playing oldies covers that added to the atmosphere, and my fellow shoppers were in good spirits. I was disappointed not to find the tomatoes I needed for a recipe, but I’m hoping it’s just early in the season for them. I’ll definitely head back next weekend to see if I can find them – but this time, I might eat before I go.

how is the produce this time of year? We went a few weeks ago and was too early for the good stuff.

I really enjoy going to the Farmers Market on Wednesday Evening. The event is also paired with Revive at 5. There is only one problem with it and that is that not all the market people come on Wednesday. It always seems like I miss the Saturday event because I get wrapped up in stuff at home and before I know it the market is closed down. Why can't we get more of the vendors to attend on the Wednesday's. With the Revive at 5 being there too there must be a lot more traffic. Can anyone help with this?
