I got to tell you that nothing chaps my hide faster then reading or listening to people who are throwing a fit about something they have no knowledge in.

I read a blog not to long ago on Crystalline Fructose and how it was worse then HFCS(High Fructose Corn Syrup).  First of all, High Fructose Corn Syrup is only 42 to 55% Fructose, the rest of the formula is Dextrose, which is crystallized Glucose.  Crystalline Fructose uses a totally different transport system in the blood then HFCS, it uses a transport system that is designed especially for “fructose”…do you see a pattern here?  The body was designed to utilize fructose, just not in huge amounts.  50 grams a day should be the limit.  Now, what about HFCS?  Dextrose has a higher glycemic value then fructose, because it uses the glucose transport system at a rapid rate, Dextrose is pure glucose…so, if you want to go into a diabetic coma, use HFCS…if not, then you need to know that Fructose, crystalline fructose, with its molecular structure, is lower glycemicly and nature designed it for your body, as long as you keep the amount under 50 grams per day!  A pound is 453 grams, and Crystalline Fructose is sweeter then sugar, 50 grams of Crystalline fructose is equal to about 300 grams of sugar, close to a pound of sugar a day.   I prefer my clients keep their intake of Sugar to 20 grams per day, and their intake of Fructose to 50 grams per day, and that includes what is found in their natural foods.  Fructose can be found not only in fruit, but in vegetables and grains.  Not all Fructose is bad for you, some are ultimately healthy, like long chained polysaccharides in Inulin.  Fructose and Fructins are sugars and sweet fibers that can build your immune system and may prevent colon cancer and increase the uptake of some minerals like calcium, aiding in the prevention of Osteoporosis.  So before you go flying off the handle, a wise man once said, “Moderation in all things”.  50 grams of fructose a day is what the system is designed, designed….to handle.  High Fructose Corn Syrup is not Crystalline Fructose…it’s Dextrose too, which is crystalized Glucose.

Thanks for letting me rant!!!
