We all know that only a dozen of the most stalwart attended the kite fly at Bartz Field on Oct 7.  This photo was taken minutes after the snow stopped around 1 pm.  Tom Tinney, visiting miniature kite instructor from Coeur d'Alene, waded through the snow and put up a kite.  He says it gives us bragging rights - we participated in the FIRST ANNUAL IDAHO STATE KITE FESTIVAL despite the snow!  This has to be part of the October photo contest.

More than 400 others made kites, so we are meeting in local parks on Sunday afternoons at 1 pm, weather permitting, to fly as many as we can before snow becomes the norm and not just freakish Idaho weather!  Last week we met at Bonneville, this Sunday (21st) we'll try Sister City Park off Pocatello Creek Road.  The Power of Pink kiters are esp hopeful that they'll  have a group ascension, and I'd like to see all those red-white-blue kites in the air too.

If you made a kite, come fly it!  If you didn't, come fly one of mine, and plan to register at Portneuf Library for their Nov 7 (5:30 pm) kitemaking workshop so you will have your own (237-2192).
