Our daughter and her husband live near Conroe,Texas,just north of Houston. Whenever New Orleans is threatened or there is a severe storm in the gulf, they watch it pretty closely in case they have to move further north or West. So far they have been fortunate to only get a lot of rain but nothing severe enough to move out. They do get hammered by rain though.

I lived in Lafayette, Louisiana for 13 years and 6 of my 8 children were born there. I have many dear friends, who have all survived Gustav and are doing well. The winds were incredible and their electricity went out for a few hours. But, happily they are all fine. I feel we are really fortunate to live in a state that is basically safe from natures fury in that form. The hurricane season is still not over, so let's keep them in our prayers!!
