Pacific Steel and Recycling to host Business After Hours Thursday, September 25, 2008


Pacific Hide and Fur Depot dba Pacific Steel and Recycling has been in business since 1887. Originally chartered in the Oregon Territory before Washington became a state, the company now has its headquarters in Great Falls, Montana. With over 700 employee owners, 38 branches in 7 states, Pacific is an ESOP with a future as bright as its past. The company established itself early on in the hide, wool, fur business and began recycling metal as part of the war effort for WW I. The family that started out in Spokane, moved to Montana in 1918 and gradually expanded to its present size. The Pocatello operations were acquired from the McCarty family in 1978. Besides its scrap yard/recycling center here, Pacific has a regional new steel facility which markets new steel products throughout southeastern Idaho.

The proud employees of the recycling yard invite your attendance.  Chamber Members and their invited guest are all welcome at our Business After Hours on September 25, 2008. We will be demonstrating our processing equipment which can cut and prepare scrap steel to mill specifications. We will have 4 large excavators and our 700 ton guillotine stationary shear on display. Visitors are encouraged to dress not in suit and tie. We will offer hard hats and the evening will be catered by Portneuf Valley Brewing!
