I don't know which section this belongs in, but I have a question about gardening.  I am hoping someone out there has had this problem and knows what to do about it.

I have two rose bushes that are in my back yard.  Their leaves are eaten away every year by an unknown herbivour.  This year this same culprit has attacked my forsythia and also a small potted lilac in the immediat vacinity.  None of the other roses are bothered.  I have observed several grasshoppers resting on the stems of the rose bushes, but do not want to jump to the conclusion that they are responsable for the damage.  What can I do to protect these particular plants from the leaf robbers?

Now that you mention it I have the same thing going down in my garden but I blame the grasshoppers. If you think its a mammal there is a caster oil based granule that you spread around the base of the plants and it works well. For bugs there is a in one product that is a fungicide, insecticide and miticide made by Schultz that works great.
