THE SNAKE RIVER ROARING YOUTH JAM and BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Are you ready for the biggest family party ever? It’s “The Snake River Roaring Youth Jam” For three magical days, August 7-9, the east side of the greenbelt in downtown Idaho Falls will be bustling with art activities geared toward youth of all ages. Participate in public art projects such as the Great Graffiti Wall or Create an Ocean. Enjoy local youth performers on the greenbelt stage. And in the evening, don’t miss the vibrant San Francisco based dance company Printz Dance Project, who deliver energetic modern moves, live, at the Colonial Theater, all three nights starting at 7:00 pm.
Get ready to have fun filled days with art, music, a gigantic duck race and make lots of memories with your family. Don’t forget, it’s all free.
TEEN SCENE. On Saturday, August 9 from 3-10:00 pm in downtown Civitan’s Plaza Park there’s a Battle of the Bands. As many as 15 bands will compete for their share of $2000 in prizes. Pick up an entry form at Mike’s Music the Arts Council or call Arie at 520-9151 for more information.
There will be an intermediate level dance class for those 12+ on the Colonial Theater stage on Friday, August 8 at 12:00. Printz Dance Project will lead this high energy class.
Thursday and Friday at 1:00 upstairs in the Colonial Theater youth gallery, explore social issues through music and film, with 2 award winning documentaries. Thursday will feature Afro-Punk by James Spooner and Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes by Byron Hurt will be shown on Friday. There will be a facilitator at each screening to guide discussions.
So come on down to the seventh annual Snake River Roaring Youth Jam, August 7th-9th in downtown Idaho Falls. Kicking off the Youth Jam on the greenbelt this year is Community Night Out on August 8th.
In coordination with other arts organizations and enthusiasts, the mission of the Idaho Falls Arts Council is to educate our community and enrich the quality of life by promoting, advocating and presenting a broad spectrum of the visual and performing arts in eastern Idaho.
