Marsh Valley to host Missoula Children's Theatre "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"

The Marsh Valley Performing Arts Committee is excited to have a week-long Summer Theater Camp for 6 - 18 year olds, July 28-August 2.  Missoula Children's Theatre provides a week-long residency "starring" 50-60 local students in a full-scale musical.  MCT has been touring now for more than 30 years, visiting nearly 1100 communities annually in all 50 states, 4 Canadian Provinces and overseas.  Their mission is the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.  Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique and educational project.  Their team of two professional Tour Actor/Directors will arrive in Marsh Valley with scenery, costumes, props, make-up and basic lighting... everything it takes to put on a play - except, the cast.  This week-long residency begins with an open group audition and culminates in two public performances.  Fifty to sixty students grades K-12, or a combination of these ages, are cast and well rehearsed throughout the week, learning lines, songs and choreography to perform as an ensemble in producing a full-length musical.  All of their shows are original adaptations of children's stories and fairytales... a twist on the classic stories that you know and love.

Auditions will be held on Monday, July 28 at 9:00 am at the Marsh Valley Performing Arts Center in Arimo.  Those cast in the play will be required to attend rehearsals daily to prepare for the performances on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  Cost for participants will be $20 for the week.  If you have questions, please contact Paula at 221-9828 or Angie at 709-3640.

This program is supported by a generous grant from the Beverly B. Bistline Foundation.  The Bistline Foundation, started in 1998, provides grant money for local groups and individuals to further education, provide community entertainment, and promote opportunities for local artists.
