Keeping things in balance is important. Several decades ago,in the intermountain west the government decided that wolves and other predators were bad. So they hunted them and eliminated them. As a result, the deer and elk population exploded. This hurt the beavers because the elk destroyed all the vegetation they needed to build dams. This in turn hurt the trout because they depended on the dams to provide a suitable habitat under water. That was then, this is now. The wolves have been reintroduced, but there are new concerns that exist today that didn't exist way back when - like cattle ranchers and expanded civil populations. To have the wolves is fine, but controls on their population should be mandated to help maintain a balance. To let their numbers go crazy could repeat the mistakes of the past.

Think it tastes like chicken?

Since Japan and S. Korea are both scared of our beef, perhaps we could export wolf.

I have never wanted to hunt wolves. I can apreciate that ranchers and farmers are concerned about the wolves attacking their livestock and I think they should be able to protect their interests by killing the wolves that are causing the problem. I just don't have any desire to hunt the wolves we occasionally see.

I think pretty much the way anonymous does on this issue. I don't want to hunt wolves.

Ya, I am pretty sure he was joking as well. This is one of those topics that there is no easy answer for. If there are no wolves the deer/elk population would become a problem, but with too many wolves the ranchers etc. begin to lose too many livestock, and there are many other problems as well. I think unboxed's comment was eluding to the fact that there is no easy answer, but wouldn't it be great if there were? I doubt he meant to be offensive. Dicussion on hot topics is great, but let's all stay civil, Ok?

I was actually making fun of American beef, and the political chaos it is causing in the East..
