POCATELLO - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has scheduled a public meeting to seek comment on the 2008 wolf hunting season framework. The meeting will be held Monday, May 5, 2008 in the Wood River Room of the Pond Student Union Building at Idaho State University. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm.
The Fish and Game Commission approved the Idaho Wolf Population Management Plan, and the gray wolf was removed from the Endangered Species List this past March. The management plan calls for managing wolves at a population level of between 500-700 wolves for the first 5 years following delisting. Details for the fall 2008 hunting season are scheduled to be set by the Commission at the May 21-23 meeting and brochures should be out to the public in July.
Comments can be submitted at the scheduled meeting, by calling the Pocatello office, or by mail to Idaho Fish and Game,1345 Barton Road, Pocatello, ID 83204. The deadline for submitting comments is close of business day on May 16, 2008.
Individuals with disabilities may request meeting accommodations by contacting Martha Wackenhut at 232-4703 or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377- 3529.
