Have you ever thought about how much what you eat affects your medications or your health? Some people have no idea that what they eat can affect the medications that they take and how they work. Some people have no idea how to shop healthy for themselves or for any health issues they may have under the same roof.
I can help. I have worked in the functional food industry and in integrative health for over 20 years as a nutritional Biochemist/ molecular biologist and I can teach you what to look for in your food and how to shop. I give small shopping classes in Rexburg, Idaho Falls and Pocatello at area grocery stores. The classes are 40.00 per person with 5 in a group. You bring your shopping list and menus and we talked about alternative choices you can make that will make you and your family healthier without give up to much as far as taste is concerned. We also talked about organics, what you need to buy that is organic and what you don't need to buy. We even talked about healthier "junk" food choices... Congratulations to the Pocatello Co-op! The Pocatello Co-op recently celebrated its first anniversary with a meeting to review its progress, assess its successes and shortcomings, and formulate goals to meet the needs of the community AND make sound business sense. The annual meeting was lively, interactive and frank. THE FUTURE IS NOW! Staff and board members laid out options for the future of the co-op. The co-op has several partnerships with local growers and producers, which reduces their products' carbon footprint and costs AND increases their freshness and product quality. Such products including milk, eggs and cheese epitomize the core value of the co-op for many members, who make the co-op their first stop for basic groceries as well as its unique inventory of natural and health items.
