This is a picture of a Bald Eagle in Neely, Idaho.

The entries for January were absolutely amazing! Let's see if we can get some more great entries for February! The contest is now open. Deadline for entries is midnight on Monday, Feb. 22 (which I guess is technically the 23rd). Winners will be announced that Friday, Feb. 26. As always, first place will win a $50 gift card to Fred Meyer, second place will win a $25 gift card to Fred Meyer, and third place will win a $15 gift card to, you guessed it, Fred Meyer. The gift cards are to Fred Meyer because you can get pretty much anything you need there, from groceries to gas, so it seemed like a good fit.

Wow, what a great batch of entries this month. There are some amazing photographers in Southeast Idaho. Thank you all for the great photos.

The Idaho State Journal photographers have aided in helping to chose these winners:

The boy stands proud in his traditional Incan attire.

I took this picture at a Quechuan Festival in June of 2007 in Cusco, Peru.  Quechua is the  language of the indigenous Andean people and is spoken by around 7 million people. It was was the language of the Incans.  And Cusco -- at an altitude of nearly 12,000' -- was the capital of the Incan Empire. 

I am submitting this for the January, 2010 photo contest.

Please enter the attached photo in the December photo contest for holiday decorations.  It was my husband's first crack at putting lights on one of our outside pines and it turned out pretty good.  The fallling snow just added some magic to it.

Are you ready for December's contest? This one will have a theme to celebrate the holidays! Submit your best photos of holiday decorations! They can be indoor or outdoor decorations, or a photo of yourselves, your kids or even your pets "decorated" for the holidays.

August photo contest.

The elections are over, the results are finally in!  After a little technical glitch with the video recording of the presidential debate, SALN members elected their candidates.

Larry Fries of Pocatello, became the new President of the Idaho Self-Advocate Leadership Network,  Shiloh Blackburn of Idaho Falls, the new Treasurer and Jen Magelky-Seiler, of Moscow became the new Sergeant– at-arms. Continuing with their terms this year are David Dekker of Jerome as Vice-President, Becky Woodhead as Secretary and Tracy Martin as Historian.  There will be a board conference call on April, 30th, 2009.

The First Board meeting with the newly elected Officers will be in Pocatello on May 19th –20th, 2009. For those of you who are not familiar with SALN yet, a little history follows:
