Teens are invited to the Marshall Public Library, 113 S. Garfield Ave., Pocatello for an evening of Board Gaming June 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be Monopoly, Stratego, Uno, Battleship, Apples to Apples and a “Twilight” board game or bring your own favorite game. Join the Portneuf Valley Brew Babes for their annual “Night in Tuscany” lasagna dinner June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Portneuf Valley Brewery, 615 S. First Ave., Pocatello. Proceeds benefit Pocatello’s Relay for Life. The menu features homemade lasagna, Italian sausage, garlic bread, salad and dessert. Tickets cost $10 each or $25 per family, with children 12 and younger. They are available at the door or from any Brew Babe member.

Sagebrush Steppe Regional Land Trust annual fund-raiser will be June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Mink Creek group site. Tickets are on sale at Ravens Nest, Scott’s Ski and Sports and by contacting the Land Trust at 241-4662 or go to www.sagebrushlandtrust.org. The event includes a rack of lamb, live music and dancing, silent auction and activities for children. Proceeds go to the Land Trust’s conservation efforts.
The College Neighborhood Association will hold its “Garden and Kitchen Tour” June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as a benefit for the Pocatello Free Clinic. Cost is adults $12, children ages 2 to 12, $6 and babies in backpacks get in free. Tickets are available from Pinehurst Floral and Greenhouse, Pocatello Co-op, Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce, Gate City Real Estate, Pocatello City Hall Historic Preservation Commission and Pocatello Neighborhood Housing Services.
The movie “Defiance” will play at the Bengal Theater at Idaho State University June 18 and 19 at 6 and 8:30 p.m. as part of the ISU Alternative Cinema Circle summer film series. Admission is free. “Defiance” stars Daniel Craig in this historically based movie which follows a group of Jewish freedom fighters who resist the Nazis in the forests of Eastern Europe during World War II. The Red Cross in Idaho will have a blood drive June 16 from noon to 4 p.m., at the Southeastern District Health Department, 1901 Alvin Ricken Drive, Pocatello. Any healthy person age 17 and older weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Please schedule an appointment by calling Dana Solomon at 239-5256.
“Anthems of America” will be June 26 at the Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the Stephens Performing Arts Center at Idaho State University. There will be two performances at 6 and 8:30 p.m. The patriotic program includes music, narration and audio-visual presentations. There will be a special tribute to military people during the program. Military people are asked to wear their uniforms at this event. Tickets are $8 for general admission, available at the Stephens Performing Arts Center box office and $5 for military personnel. “Developing Capable People” series webinar continues by Rocky Mountain Learning, a new online meeting and continuing education service provider developed by the Institute of Rural Health at Idaho State University. Anne Myler Preston, a licensed clinical social worker is the presenter. The series is available online and each session costs $15. There will be a legislative retreat June 27 from noon to 5 p.m. at Bear Lake West on the Idaho/Utah border to discuss issues of importance to Bear Lake Valley including discussion of invasive species in the lake, land use and more. Attending from Idaho will be Rep. Tom Loertscher, Rep. Marc Gibbs and Idaho Senate President Por Tempe Robert L. Geddes. No ties allowed! Thousands of great fans, contestants, queens and rodeo personalities will all be in the Greater Pocatello area for Idaho High School Rodeo Finals June 15-20, 2009 at the Bannock County Fairgrounds.  This event has a significant economic impact on our community of $450-$500 thousand. These are direct and indirect dollars.

The Idaho State University Students Community Service Center, along with students from ISU’s Early Learning Center will have a food drive June 26 in the 100 to 600 blocks of Seventh Avenue in Pocatello from 9:30 to 11 a.m. This is a service learning opportunity for young children making a difference in their community, with students ranging in age from 6 to 11.  Allison Huerta of Pocatello will join with other men and women June 27 and 28 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in the Rocky Mountains fund-raiser. Huerta will participate in the non-competitive event, either a 26.2-mile marathon or half-marathon. This is her first time taking part in the walk. There will be a raffle for a hot pink iPod June 13 at 5 p.m. Cost for the raffle is $10 and you can donate at www.avonwalk.org/goto/allison.huerta.
An AARP Driver Safety program, hosted by Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, will be June 29 and 30 from 1 to 5 p.m. You must attend both days. Cost is $14, which includes the manual, and AARP members get a $2 discount. The class has no graded or driving tests and many insurance companies offer a discount for attending. Class size is limited and you must register by the Saturday before the class; there will be no walk-ins. “Naturally Pocatello” nature programs begin June 11 with a tour of the Edson Fichter Nature Area from 6 to 7 p.m. Idaho master naturalist volunteers will take participants on guided hikes, interpretive and educational activities. Thursday’s program will have Steve Porter, Portneuf naturalist, leading the tour of the area. Space is limited to 35 people and parking is available of Cheyenne next to Indian Hills Elementary School soccer field. Register by calling the Idaho Fish and Game office at 232-4703. The programs are free and will run from June through September.
On June 13 the Southeast Idaho Asthma Coalition and American College of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology will be sponsoring free asthma screenings and pulmonary function tests at the Pocatello Fred Meyer Pharmacy, 800 Yellowstone Ave., from 10 a.m. to noon. Testing will be conducted on a first come-first serve basis. Dr. David Parry, asthma and allergy physician specialist, and Bill Andreason, Portneuf Medical Center respiratory therapist, will be administering tests and interpreting results. Recent graduates of the Idaho State University Respiratory Therapy Program will also be assisting in the screening process. This event is free and all interested community members are encouraged to participate.
 The Bannock Humane Society annual Pet Faire and yard sale will be June 13 at 850 Barton Road, Pocatello, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All-day events include a yard sale, half-price pet licenses, food and baked goods, crafts, raffle, silent auction and pet adoptions. Pocatello Field Archers Inc., 8550 Pocatello Creek Road, will have an Outdoor 3-D tournament June 13 and 14 at the range. Hours are June 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 14 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be available. Cost for the tourney is adult $12, members $11, youth $10, members $9, family $30, members $28 and both days $20, members $18. Chicks and cubs can shoot for free. Summer ballet classes will be offered beginning June 22 to Aug. 10 at Snake River Middle School in Thomas, 1060 W. 110 S. Karli Cope Thompson will be the instructor. Dancers will be placed into the classes based on their training and age, and cost is $35. The classes are held in the morning, starting at 9 a.m. For more information, call Thompson at 269-0624.
 Blackfoot Pride Days begins June 11 and goes through June 13, beginning with a downtown festival in Blackfoot Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. Other events include potato museum tours from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 12, a free swim day at the Blackfoot Swim Pool from 1 to 4 p.m., family games and carnival from 2 to 7 p.m. at Jensen’s Grove, and on June 13, there will be all-day model airplane demos, a candy bomb drop at the airport, a triathlon, a car show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Veterans Park, and more.
 Free workshops for manufacturers, processors and entrepreneurs will be June 9, 10, 17, 18 and 30 in Idaho from 8 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. The Pocatello workshop will be June 9 and the Idaho Falls workshop will be June 10. The Merwyn Business Translation workshops are sponsored by TechHelp, Idaho Small Business Development Center, Idaho State University, University of Idaho and Boise State. The B-17 Flying Fortress, a fully restored World War II-era plane, welcomes visitors to tour the plane from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 6 and 7 at the Idaho Falls Regional Airport. “Sentimental Journey” is the nation’s most fully restored B-17. It is a flying memorial and museum that tours the nation each summer. If you would like to take a ride or fly the plane, call the flight coordinator at 208-448-9415. It costs $425 to fly and $450 to ride.
 Smokeless Drinkless Regional Singles Group is our name. Wholesome family activities is our game. We are nondenominational welcoming singles of all ages with or without children.
