About Jim
I am a graduate of University of Maryland in Soviet (Russian) studies and also from Idaho State University in Education with emphases in German, Political Science, History and Economics. I Studied Russian language two separate years at the Presidio of Monterey in California. I served 12 years active duty in the United States Army followed by eight years reserve service while I was teaching at Pocatello High School. While at Poky I advised the new reformed "Gamers" club and the Winter Sports Club. I organized numerous winter sports club trips to Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee and worked weekends as an instructor at Pebble Creek Ski Area. In 2000 I was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor and underwent surgery in April of 2001. I again underwent surgery to my brain in January 2002 to try to relieve the effects of tic de la Rue or Trigeminal Neuralgia. I had the great good fortune to meet the love of my life, Nancy, who brought me to her home in Vancouver, British Columbia for recuperation and rehabilitation. While living in Canada I found a ski hill which was understanding enough to help me regain my balance and put me back to work as an instructor. Through their help and that of my love Nancy I learned to walk and ski again. When her youngest son finished high school and the first year of college, we moved back here to our house in Pocatello so that we could devote time to my two daughters Katie and Sage. I am glad to be back at Pebble Creek as an instructor and settled back into our home. We have a son (Jordan) in the Canadian Armed Forces, scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in support of NATO (American) operations there in January 2009. We have a son studying journalism at Quantlan College, in British Columbia. We have another son working as a youth couselor in Twin Falls, Idaho and a fourth son working as an assistant producer on film sets in Seattle, Washington. Our girls are 18 and 8, one a student at Highland High and the other a third grader at Grace Lutheran. Life is good.
