About Smokey
I am originally from Pocatello. I spent twenty-five years as a member of the faculty of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. I also was a volunteer patrolman for the College Station, Texas, Police Department's Knight Watch program for several hours each week during the evenings. I was also among the first group of Texas DPS certified concealed handgun instructors once the Texas concealed handgun law was passed in 1996. I finally retired from Texas A&M University in August of 2000 and returned to Pocatello. Now,I spend most of my time mountain biking in the Spring, Summer and Fall in order to stay in shape for skiing in the winter. During hunting season I hunt as much as I can. During the Winter I ski to stay in shape for the coming mountain biking months. I also spend a lot of time camping on mountain property that my family owns. If I can't ski, mountain bike, or hunt for some reason, I have a home based buisiness that I can work on as a last resort. My current ambition is to hunt Africa while it is still possible. One of my main regrets is that Peter Capstick, who was an African hunting guide and writer, had to leave early, and I won't be able to hunt Africa with him.
