Posting on TheJHub.com

There are lots of ways to post on the JHub.com – blogs, articles, events, etc.

  1. Click on “Post Something!” under “My Stuff.”  - OR – click on “Post” at the top of the page. This will take you to a site with all your posting options.
  2. Choose what you’d like to post – “Blog,” “Article,” “Event,” or “Listing.”
  3. Fill in the information fields that appear. Keep in mind that you don’t have to fill in everything – if you know about an event, but you’re not sure if it costs anything, you can just leave that field blank. (The first time you post to your blog, a pop-up window will appear asking you for some information on your blog. Go ahead and fill that out, and then it will take you to the site to start posting.)
  4. Once you’re finished, click “Post Blog,” “Post Article,” “Post Event,” or “Post Listing” to publish the listing. You’re good to go!

Frequently asked questions:

1. How do I get my photos to show up on the front page?
2. What do I do if someone else's post is incorrect/offensive?
3. I signed up for a profile, but I never got a confirmation e-mail. How come?
4. When I try to post something, I get an error message saying that The JHub doesn't work with my Internet browser. Why?
5. I'm in a band, and I posted an MP3. Why isn't it showing up in the JHub Radio section of the site?

1. How do I get my photos to show up on the front page?
It's easy to get your photos to show up on the front page as long as you know the trick. Post an "article" - you can include text if you want, or just upload your photos. Doesn't matter. The key is to be sure to choose "photos" as the category. You're welcome to choose a second category if you want the article to show up elsewhere, but choosing "photos" will make sure they show up on the homepage. Keep in mind that photos are the only thing staff has to 'approve' before they go on the front page, for obvious reasons, so if you don't see them right away, don't panic.

2. What do I do if someone else's post is incorrect/offensive?
If you find something you think is incorrect, start out by posting a polite comment pointing out the error. More often than not, mistakes are innocent, and users are happy to fix their posts. Keep in mind that there's a real person behind the post, and be kind. We all make mistakes. If that doesn't solve the problem, click the link that says "report a violation." This will let the admins know about the problem, and we'll take a look at it and deal with it from there.
If you come across something offensive, head straight to the "report a violation" link. We try to monitor content closely for offense, but we can't always catch everything right away. Please don't leave comments telling users that their posts are offensive - this usually starts "flame wars" and doesn't have much effect. An admin will take care of the problem if you flag it for us.

3. I signed up for a profile, but I never got a confirmation e-mail. How come?
Check the "spam" folder on your e-mail server - that's often where the confirmation e-mail ends up. If that doesn't solve the problem, e-mail kcarpenter@journalnet.com.

4. When I try to post something, I get an error message saying that The JHub doesn't work with my Internet browser. Why?
Odds are, you're using Safari. Because of some technical complications with Safari, the JHub software doesn't support that browser. The reason why is a very complex, computer-geeky answer, but the solution is to use another browser - try either Internet Explorer or Firefox, which you can download here.

5. I'm in a band, and I posted an MP3. Why isn't it showing up in the JHub Radio section of the site?
First of all, thanks for posting your song - we love to hear new stuff. To make sure the song makes it onto JHub radio, be sure to post it in the "sample music" part of the "about me" section. Then, sit back and wait - an admin has to approve the music to make sure it's nothing copyrighted. This should happen within a day or two, so hang tight. If, after a couple days, your song still isn't showing up, e-mail kcarpenter@journalnet.com and we'll try to get it straightened out.
