Bannock County Pet Tales - PortneufKennels's Blog - TheJHub.com http://www.thejhub.com/home/Blog/PortneufKennels Local Pet Stories Local Pet Stories en-us The Tale of Princess Poke...an Idaho Fairy Tale http://www.thejhub.com/home/Blog/PortneufKennels/599 http://www.thejhub.com/home/Blog/PortneufKennels/599 <p>Far away and high in the mountains of Idaho sometimes you can see some strange things.</p> <p>There is a spot in the Idaho Outback called "Marsh Creek".  One day a couple of men driving a cement truck watched a little dog covered in porcupine quills come up to them.  She asked for their help.  The men knew instantly that this dog was a princess in disguise and they agreed to help her.  She told them that she had lost her way and that her name was "Princess Poke".</p> <p>The men called the Bannock County Sheriff for help on their magic phone.  Then the sheriff, who also wanted to help a princess in distress, called P.A.W.S.  Arrangements were quickly made and a volunteer met the men at the truck stop and rescued the princess.</p> <p>The princess had quills in her mouth and nose and could not eat or drink.  She had lost weight and was thin and dehydrated.  The volunteer knew she had rescued the princess just in the nick of time.  She probably would not have lasted much longer.</p> <p>But this in an "Idaho Fairy Tale" and the little princess was taken to a doctor and with the help of other volunteers she made a full recovery.</p> <p>Princess Poke wears her battle scars from her "Idaho Bush Adventure" with honor.  Anyone who has been thru a "battle" of his or her own know how she feels.</p> <p>Princess Poke visited with me for a weekend and she was a true lady.  She was quiet, clean and very well behaved.  She told me that she had lost her way and needed to find a new castle to watch over.  She only had one request...that in her new kingdom there were NO cats as she just could not get along with the silly creatures.</p> <p>I agreed to tell you about Princess Poke and now I am looking for a "Fairy Tale Ending" to my story.</p> <p>Princess Poke is now looking for someone to adopt her and treat her like a princess.  She would like to be a house dog and have a fenced yard.  She is a young dog probably about 1 1/2 years old.  She is a min pin terrier mix but she looks like a miniature Doberman.  She is about 16" tall. Her cropped tail wags all the time.  She has a lovely disposition and likes people and other dogs.  She does not like cats.  She walks well on a leash and could be easily trained.  She has gained weight and is almost totally healed.  She has been vaccinated and the vet thinks she has already been spayed.</p> <p>If you would be interested in giving Princess Poke a new home please contact :</p> <p>P.A.W.S.  <a href="mailto:bannockpaws@hotmail.com">bannockpaws@hotmail.com</a></p> <p>If you you would like to help P.A.W.S. continue to rescue dogs like Princess Poke in Bannock County your donations are always welcome.</p> <p>Also up for adoption are 3 small dogs.  Their owner has passed away. paws.bmp puppy for adoption PortneufKennels paws2.bmp puppy for adoption PortneufKennels Bannock County Animal Rescue Update http://www.thejhub.com/home/Blog/PortneufKennels/433 http://www.thejhub.com/home/Blog/PortneufKennels/433 <p>Greetings Pocatello!</p> <p>I have an update from P.A.W.S. on the rescue and feeding of the Fort Hall farm animals that I would like to share with you.</p> <p>P.A.W.S. has received donations from all over the United States to help feed these animals. </p> <p>P.A.W.S. would still like to buy hay in small bales.  If you have some hay for sale please contact the sheriffs office.  P.A.W.S. will continue to help feed these animals as the case works its way thru the court system.</p> <p>P.A.W.S. would like to say Thank You for all of the donations of hay, feed, salt blocks and other items for the Fort Hall farm animals.</p> <p>P.A.W.S. would like to send a very special Thank You to "Team INL."  This group of people from the site donated and delivered 2 tons of hay cubes.  They also  generously donated the use of their trucks, trailers and time to go to St. Anthony and get the donated 5 tons of hay and bring it back to Bannock County.  Many, many, many thanks to "Team INL" for helping these animals.</p> <p>The horses and other farm animals are still being fed under the watchful eye of the Bannock County Sheriff.</p> <p>Again, the most important thing you can do to help is contact the Governor and your legislators to change the animal cruelty laws in Bannock County and the State of Idaho.</p> <p>P.A.W.S. is still asking for donations to help these and other animals.  P.A.W.S. is a volunteer organization.  Every penny donated goes to help animals in Bannock County. Tax deductible donations can be sent to:  P.A.W.S. , P.O. Box 1603, Pocatello, Idaho  83201.</p> <p>P.A.W.S. has two dogs up for adoption:</p> <p>A male 2 year old Airedale mix, neutered and vaccinated.</p> <p>A male 3 year old Australian Shepherd mix, neutered and vaccinated.</p> <p>The adoption fee for these dogs is $50.00.  </p> <p>P.A.W.S. also has some cats ready for adoption.  These cats range in age from 6 months to adults.  They are neutered and vaccinated.  The fee is $30.00.</p> <p>When you adopt an animal from P.A.W.S. you have two weeks to return the animal and you will be refunded your money.  After two weeks, P.A.W.S. will take the animal back, but you will not get a refund.  In this way you can make sure the animal fits your family and life style and P.A.W.S. knows the animal has a good home.  </p> <p>For more information about adopting an animal you can contact P.A.W.S. at : <a href="mailto:bannockpaws@hotmail.com">bannockpaws@hotmail.com</a>.</p> <p>If you would like to donate dog or cat food or towels or blankets they can be dropped off at my kennel and I will make sure they are delivered to P.A.W.S.  Feed and other items for the farm animal rescue can be taken to the Bannock County Fairgrounds.</p> <p>Thank you,</p> <p>Tina Christensen, Portneuf Kennels</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> Bannock County Animal Rescue http://www.thejhub.com/home/Blog/PortneufKennels/398 http://www.thejhub.com/home/Blog/PortneufKennels/398 <p>Greetings Pocatello!</p> <p>I would like to take the opportunity to tell you about a wonderful organization.</p> <p>P.A.W.S.  Portneuf Animal Welfare Society, Inc.  is a great group of people working in Bannock County to help animals.  </p> <p>The P.A.W.S. Mission Statement:</p> <p>Portneuf Animal Welfare Society, Inc (P.A.W.S.) provides compassionate care and service to the animals and people of Southeastern Idaho working in collaboration with other organizations and community resources.</p> <p>You may have read about the cruelty case in the Fort Hall area recently.  P.A.W.S. has been helping with the feeding and rescue of  40 horses, 15 cows, 1 goat, 4 pigs and a flock of chickens.  The animals were all in bad condition and a few horses had to be put down.</p> <p>P.A.W.S. has been successful in raising money to buy hay for these starving animals.  They would like to say "Thank You" to everyone for their donations and good thoughts.  </p> <p>The investigation is pending. </p> <p>What can you do to help?</p> <p>P.A.W.S. is looking for hay in small bales.  They do have money now to buy some hay.  </p> <p>Someone in Saint Anthony has donated some hay, but P.A.W.S. needs help to get it delivered to Pocatello.  Call the Sheriff's Office if you can help.</p> <p>If you have hay to donate it can be taken to the Bannock County Fairgrounds.</p> <p>Donations are still welcome to help buy hay.  Tax deductible donations can be sent to: P.A.W.S.  P.O.
