aargh!
Man, life can be so hard sometimes! My poor children, I fail them so often. They deserve a calm, clean orderly home, where cool heads prevail. Instead, they live in a chaotic home, with a mother who can't stay organized to save her life! Chaotic as in CHAOS, if you've ever heard of the "Fly Lady"--she writes books on cleaning--she said it best. CHAOS stands for Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome. That describes my situation to a tee! :) My new years resolution is to beat this. Chrismas is a wonderful time of year, but I nearly ruined it for myself with the CHAOS that is my home. I love my kids, I love being a mom, but I am so overwhelmed some days. I don't even know where to begin. If your readng this, sorry--its a pointless blog--I just needed to vent and this seemed a good outlet. I'm sitting here at my computer, sick to my stomach, just recovering from a near panick attack. How do I get through this? I have no idea. Why do I seem to be the only mom who struggles every second of every day to keep even just a little order in her home? Am I the only one? Or the only one who wil admit it? Is there something wrong with me? I want to be a good example and teach my kids good organizational and cleaning skills, but I don't even have them myself.......Aaargh!!!

I use the advice someone once gave me, if someone is over and starts to nit pick about how your house looks, then they are not there to visit you in the first place. I have even tried to get my cat to help clean, but she just helps out by holding the bed down. Must be hard, she is always asleep doing it. Another piece of advise that helps is a phrase, "How do you eat a watermelon?" the answer is in small bites. What seems overwhelming as a whole, is actually easy if you take it in small steps and before you k now it, the task is done. Now for cleaning, depending on the age of your kids, give them tasks to help out, but instead of calling a chore, make it into a game with a prize at the end. Kids will happily help out if they think it is fun. Give them small tasks and eventually the big chore is done. At least that is what my mother did. posted by
