Alcohol Privilege

It surprises me that several universities administrators are lobbying to have the legal drinking age lowered.  This issue seems to resurface sporadically with some states changing their alcohol laws and later correcting their mistakes further down the intoxicated legislative road of error.

First, we must remember that not all college students are engaging in this illegall drinking behavior which sometimes leads to bingeing, alcoholic poisoning, and even death.

Alcohol is a drug of choice which is much easier and less expensive to buy than illegal drugs such as marijuana, speed, crack-cocaine, etc.  Yet, each time someone consumes an alcoholic beverage, damage is being done internally and ultimately affecting society. Numerous people will be affected in some way by the person who chooses to drink alcoholic drinks.  The brain is affected immediately with the first alcoholic drink.  Those who never take that first drink will not suffer internally with having his or her brain and  liver damaged.

Rather than suggesting lowering the legal drinking age, we should be helping those members of society who binge drink.  Why are they killing themselves?  That is what it amounts to.  What is it they are lacking and are seeking to find?

It cannot be they are trying to have their internal organs damaged.  Think about it.

You have a good point. More could be done to help people who already have a problem. And yes, it is cheaper and easier to get than drugs, especially in small communities such as ours.
