Sometimes you can see some strange things in the Idaho Outback.  A few weeks ago up by Marsh Creek a couple of men in a cement truck watched a little dog covered in porcupine quills come up to them.  She was asking for their help.  The men named her "Poke".

They called the Bannock County Sheriff who in turn called P.A.W.S.  Arrangements were quickly made and a volunteer met the men at the truck stop and got the little dog.  She drove the dog to Pocatello where she met another volunteer who took the dog to the vet for treatment.

Because of the quills in her mouth she could not eat or drink and she was thin and dehydrated.  She probably would not have lasted much longer.

But this is an "Idaho Fairy Tale" and the little dog has recovered with the help of another volunteer foster parent.

But now I am looking for a "Fairy Tale Ending" to my story.

Poke is now looking for someone to adopt her and treat her like a princess.  She is a young dog probably about 1 1/2 years old.  She is a min pin terrier mix but she looks like a Miniature Doberman.  She is about 16" tall.  Her cropped tail wags all the time.  She has a lovely disposition and likes people and other dogs.  She does not like cats.  She walks well on a leash and could be easily trained.  She has gained weight and is almost totally healed.  She has been vaccinated and the vet thinks she has already been spayed.

Poke wears her battle scars from her "Idaho Bush Adventure" with honor.  Anyone who has been thru a "battle" of his or her own knows how she feels.

P.A.W.S.  is offering a puppy for adoption.

The puppy is a black male labrador mix.  He is about 3 months old.  He has been neutered and has had his first set of shots and his rabies vaccine.

He is friendly, good with children, cats and other dogs.

The fee is $50.00.
