Another way to tell Larry is lying (from Joe Vandal)

From www.IdahoFallz.com

August 28th, 2007 at 5:21 am

Joe Vandal said:

Another way to tell Larry is lying: his press release yesterday claims he was trying to handle this matter quickly on his own and without the advice of a lawyer.

Sounds like poor Larry got rushed into a bad decision, right? They must have put the spurs to him and taken him to court right after his arrest, ehhh?

Nope. He was arrested June 11, he went to court August 8. Larry had 24 days to think it over, consult with any of hundreds of attorneys he probably came in contact with during that time, and choose his best strategy.

He pled guilty because he knew the cop had witnessed enough suspicious behaviors to warrant arrest. Now that it’s public he wants to claim the officer “misconstrued” his actions.

More lies from Larry Craig.

Should a recall petition be started for his lies, for his getting arrested in such a low situation, for being on probation for a year?

Or is this acceptable for Idaho “leadership”?

"The Post Register talked to a number of Craig's supporters on Monday, none of whom wanted to speak on the record. However, they did express their dismay, disappointment and sense of betrayal,"  said Post Register publisher Roger Plothow on their PostTalk board this afternoon.

It isn't that you don't have some good points. By nature, I'm not as quick to judgment as you appear to be. I'm still waiting for the rest of the story, so to speak. If I finally decide that it would be in Idaho's best interests for Larry Craig to resign I will first, personally ask him to do so, and then make my view public if  he won't. At this point I am still compliling research on the incident and waiting until I know a lot more.

mbogo , you're strategy is a good one. And I try to keep all of my thoughts, quotes, and posts in the realm of social criticism and commentary, and away from personal attacks and destruction.

Nonetheless, public officials' feet need to be held to the fire. Public scrutiny goes with the job.

To whom much has been given, much is expected.

Maybe there is more to the story.

Let's hope so.

From what we know now, problems include:

1) This was no squirrely adolescent feeling intimidated by the big bad court. He is a senior member of Congress.

2) Now he is apparently saying he overreacted due to a "witchhunt" by the Idaho Statesman. That is why he hid things, or so he says.

Senator Craig: welcome to politics.

3) Fat Cat millionaire attorneys who populate Washington know how to deal with adversity. That's why so many of them last so long.

Thus, the story from the Craig camp has huge holes in it.

Ethics investigation called for by Republican Party:

During a conference call this afternoon, Craig's own GOP called for an ethics investigation.

They have also asked if a US Senator pleading guilty to a crime now makes him in violation of Senate rules.

This regime is done.
