Last night for Revive@5 -

During this summer we have had to opportunity to enjoy almost every night that Revive @ 5  was held.  It has been the greatest fun -fantastic  music with lots of dancing, good food and tons of people to meet or get to know better.  It has been an amazing group  - - ISU attendees, jr and senior high schoolers, some young, some old, some in the middle and quite a few children with great manners and friendly smiles.

I am sure I have the best job in the world!  It has been wonderful to spend Wednesday night painting hands, faces, legs and arms. We have a great future generation growing up in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area.  They are fun, creative, smart and funny, too.

The event is held in the Old Town Pocatello Pevillion - it is amazing!  Besides the food, music and  door prizes the Farmer Market has shared the space with Revive @ 5 - what a great set-up!  The street is closed off so you and enjoy the music while shopping for produce or hand crafted items!

It was not good news that this was the last of the 2007 Revive @ 5 events.  However, there is the good newsthat the Civitans (who did an amazing job this year) are already planning for next year!  We will be there and I sure hope many of you will be too!  Among the things that Civitan did for the community was to help buy 250 backpacks and fill them with needed school supplies for students in need.  WOW!  What a huge undertaking!

We are so lucky to be so close to the Eastern Idaho State Fair!   I hope everyone plans to support our local fair this year. There are lots of great things to see, to do, to eat and to learn at the fair! There is also the carnival!!!   You'll see a great Rodeo, booths, lots of free entertainment, clowns, livestock, gardening, flowers, vegetables, and of course the petting zoo by McKee's is one of my favorite things to see and do at our fair.

Joe and I just returned from the Western Idaho State Fair in Boise and we were amazed at how different it is from the Eastern Idaho State Fair. This years theme is: Your Ticket To Fun! It runs from August 30 - September 6, 2008 - Hope to see everyone out at Blackfoot. Maybe some families or friends might want to consider car pooling to save on gas! Go to: http://www.idaho-state-fair... for more info!

See you there! Maxine

After reading about the wonderful strides being made in Blackfoot between both the hospital and the local governing bodies I have an idea.  Why don't we ask them to run our hospital or set our up like theirs?  That was a nice looking check that they presented to the county this week.

I DO NOT THINK A BIG CHECK is necessary - just a nice comfortable amount.  So, how do we accomplish this?  I do not even want to get into the discussion of our wasteful and often times careless habit of throwing tons of cash to OUTSIDE FOLKS for advice, to mediate and to NOT SOLVE ANYTHING.  Just call me grumpy - think it has to do with celebrating my 64th Birthday last Wednesday at Revive @ 5 - love, love, love that event!  I feel we have many very qualified people right here in Pocatello and Bannock County who could run a GOOD SURVEY and at a much more reasonable cost and with FASTER AND BETTER results.

We live in such a great place!  Maxine Baird

Friday, August 8TH Events Come have fun at the youth dance at Capell Park.  On Friday night, the City will have a youth dance at the Capell Park hockey rink (at the end of East Park Lawn Drive).  The dance will begin with DJ music at 8:30 pm and last until about 11:30 pm.  A $2.00 per person donation is requested with all proceeds going to the Highland High School Student Government. Saturday, August 9TH Events Chubbuck Days Parade Second Annual Car Show We had a great selection of cars at the show last year.  This time you will be able to vote for your favorite.   If you have a special vehicle to show off, call us at 237-2430.
