Last night for Revive@5 -

During this summer we have had to opportunity to enjoy almost every night that Revive @ 5  was held.  It has been the greatest fun -fantastic  music with lots of dancing, good food and tons of people to meet or get to know better.  It has been an amazing group  - - ISU attendees, jr and senior high schoolers, some young, some old, some in the middle and quite a few children with great manners and friendly smiles.

I am sure I have the best job in the world!  It has been wonderful to spend Wednesday night painting hands, faces, legs and arms. We have a great future generation growing up in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area.  They are fun, creative, smart and funny, too.

The event is held in the Old Town Pocatello Pevillion - it is amazing!  Besides the food, music and  door prizes the Farmer Market has shared the space with Revive @ 5 - what a great set-up!  The street is closed off so you and enjoy the music while shopping for produce or hand crafted items!

It was not good news that this was the last of the 2007 Revive @ 5 events.  However, there is the good newsthat the Civitans (who did an amazing job this year) are already planning for next year!  We will be there and I sure hope many of you will be too!  Among the things that Civitan did for the community was to help buy 250 backpacks and fill them with needed school supplies for students in need.  WOW!  What a huge undertaking!

IDAHO POWER WANT ANOTHER 6.6%

Idaho Power seeks OK to increase customer's electric bills again - just saw this and decided to pass it on.  Seem this newest request is for the same thing as the last on!  What do you think????  This will make a total of 17.6% in 2008.  In May I posted on this issue - here is what I said then:

The average family will see their power bill go up by $6.80 a month.  How are you handling the constant raises in utility costs?     Maxine B

Here is the write-up about the increase.  PLEASE READ and then write to the Public Untilities Commission and ask them to reject this request.

Idaho Power seeks OK to increase customer's electric bills again

BOISE - Idaho Power today filed an application with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to increase the company's base rates for electricity an average of 9.9 percent for its Idaho customers, the company announced Friday.

Although the requested increase is for an average of 9.9 percent, the company's rate proposal impacts various customer groups differently, officials say.

For example, if the request is approved as filed, residential customers would see an average increase of 6.3 percent.

The monthly bill for a typical residential customer using 1,050 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month would increase from $66.06 to $69.83 during non-summer months and from $70.21 to $74.86 per month during June, July and August.

"Two forces are driving this increase; growth in the number of customers and a growing demand for electricity," said Ric Gale, Idaho Power vice president for regulatory affairs. "We have invested heavily to ensure we can provide a safe and dependable supply of energy for our current and future customers. This request seeks to recover those investments."

Although Idaho Power is seeking an average increase of 9.9 percent to its base rates, the rates and overall percentage increases differ among customer groups because the costs of serving different customer groups vary.

Costs vary due to differences in the way customer groups receive and use electricity. Idaho Power's specific rate proposals for customer groups seek to align more closely customers' rates with the costs of providing them electrical service.

We pay some of the lowest power rates in the nation.  It would be foolish to complain too loudly if rates need to be increased because of updates that need to be made to the infrastructure.  In the end, it's all part of the growing pains we go through as the world gets a little more crowded.  Compared to everybody else, we still have it pretty good.
