Last night for Revive@5 -

During this summer we have had to opportunity to enjoy almost every night that Revive @ 5  was held.  It has been the greatest fun -fantastic  music with lots of dancing, good food and tons of people to meet or get to know better.  It has been an amazing group  - - ISU attendees, jr and senior high schoolers, some young, some old, some in the middle and quite a few children with great manners and friendly smiles.

I am sure I have the best job in the world!  It has been wonderful to spend Wednesday night painting hands, faces, legs and arms. We have a great future generation growing up in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area.  They are fun, creative, smart and funny, too.

The event is held in the Old Town Pocatello Pevillion - it is amazing!  Besides the food, music and  door prizes the Farmer Market has shared the space with Revive @ 5 - what a great set-up!  The street is closed off so you and enjoy the music while shopping for produce or hand crafted items!

It was not good news that this was the last of the 2007 Revive @ 5 events.  However, there is the good newsthat the Civitans (who did an amazing job this year) are already planning for next year!  We will be there and I sure hope many of you will be too!  Among the things that Civitan did for the community was to help buy 250 backpacks and fill them with needed school supplies for students in need.  WOW!  What a huge undertaking!

What a great way to begin the summer at the Pavilion.  Beginning at 4:00pm, attendees of the 2008 Governor's Conference will come to the Pavilion for the first Revive @ 5 of the 2008 season.  As part of their tour, they will stop in Old Town Pocatello to see what great progress we've made in recent years.  Then, they will be our special guests at a preview show of the Yard Dogs Road Show and Vagabond Opera.  We're honored to host the attendees of the Conference and wanted to give them a taste of our colorful Pocatello history in this rare appearance by the Yard Dogs.  Their unique style of 1920's European Cabaret is going to be a treat for us all!  Then, the wonderful local sounds of SwingShift will entertain the after hours crowd beginning at 5PM.  The Bannock Civitans enjoyed bringing area residents the perfect after work event last year and decided to start even earlier this year - rain or shine!  In addition, to help promote Portneuf Valley Bike to Work Month, we will be hosting the 2008 Bike Parade beginning from the Pavilion at 6PM.  Last year we had some 200 riders donning their helmets and enjoying a ride through Pocatello with prizes and activities before and after the parade to enjoy.  If you would like more information, please visit the website at www.pokybiketowork.org.

Had a great week here in Pocatello!  Wednesday was opening day for Revive @ 5.  Once more everything came together to create a fun event.  While the wind was just a tad nippy, the crowd was enthusiastic and lot of fun was had by all.  Ghetto Dogs and the Taste of India were the food vendors for the evening.  The music was Swing Shift, and the farmers market folks were set up all around the perimeter.  Joe and I had fun seeing all the kids from last year.  Boy, some of them really sprung up during the winter.  Was fun to get to paint so many of them and they all took to the new Sandy Candy - the Art you can eat!

Found out that the Bannock Civitan are going to start a recycle program on Wednesday night - keep an eye out for more info on this!  I think it is a great idea!  You will be able to come down for music, food and fun and drop off your recycle items all at the same time.

This morning (Saturday) we set-up with the Farmers Market and it was a really amazingly beautiful day.  Not any wind and the sun was out and the sun was shining!  It was just a perfect day for the Farmers Market.  We set-up right near the Pocatello Co-op; we got to met a lot of interesting new folks for there.  They set up a coffee booth and the hot brew really hit the spot for many of the attendees.  It was rich; without being bitter and there was organic Half & Half, honey or raw sugar to finish off each steaming cup!  Next week they are going to bring some orange spice or other good tea to help brighten up the morning even more.  They are planning a really great event next week at their loft on 2nd street.  It is a silent auction and cooking contest.  Check with them for details!

So guess that sums it up!  A great week for special events in Pocatello!  See you Wednesday night at the Old Town Pocatello Pavilion for a great evening of fun!
