Oh what people say.....
You know I was just reading someones blog and I had to comment on it.  Someone made a comment that we have a strong gay community and did the writer really want to come back to town.   She hadn't really talked about this topic and I thought it was strange that someone would say such a thing.  There is nothing wrong with Pocatello.  The way I look at it yes there are a lot of people that tend to be on either one side or the other as far as religion, politics etc.  But, that is what competition is all about.  I feel as though Pocatello has really grown up a lot over the years.  Yes we do have a strong gay community.  So what!!  They are part of our community, they pay taxes (usually more than we do) they own businesses  I mean what are they hurting?  I really think too many people want to stereotype.  The last time I checked we all put our pants on one leg at a time and we all breathe the same air.  People need to get off their high horses and accept people for who they are and what they accomplish.  Not their differences.  Just because someone is fat doesn't mean they are lazy, just because someone is gay means they are going to corrupt our children and just because someone is stupid doesn't mean they can't learn.  Get a grip on the 21st century and give people a chance to be who they are and accept them for that.  Sure we might have different beliefs in religion, politics etc but everyone is human and we all have families.  Stop and think about how your family would feel if they heard someone put you down.  I really don't think that they would appreciate it.  There is my rant for the night.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend.Feel free to comment I love a good banter.

I understand your thoughts completely.  Unfortunately I do not agree.  I feel that when we turn on back on others because they are different it teaches our children that this okay.  I don't think that what your church has taught you is necessarily wrong, it is just not the 21st century way we should treat people.  As long as we teach our children to accept everyone no matter what or who they are the better this world will be.

I am not gay but I have a few friends that are.  They lived for years hiding inside of themselves unable to be who they truly felt they were.  I would much rather my son be himself gay or not than feel he needs to hide.  Yes, my son is straight but I would not love him any less if he were gay.  My parents raised me to believe that everyone has a right to be who they are.  You don't have to be someone else's ideal of who you should be.  As long as you raise your children to accept everyone as they are that is all you need to help our world be a better place for everyone to live in.

I noticed you did your comment as anonymous, so you must not want anyone to know how you really feel deep inside as people might look bad at you.  Isn't it funny that is what so many people do.  They hide from society and put on a brave face when they do go out.  Is that right?  I can't do that.  I am over weight and have been most of my life.  I can't hide it and I get discriminated against everyday.  Have you had someone yell out of a car window foul and cruel things?  I have and I would never condone my son doing something like that.  This is why I believe we need to accept everyone no matter what.

Well I just was checking my blog.  I was really surprised to see that the person that commented on this portion of my blog actually deleted their comments.  I guess what they were saying must have embarrassed them to the point that they deleted it.  Too bad I was hoping we could have had a nice debate on the subject.  The whole idea on this site is to talk about our differences and try to understand other peoples opinions.  I look forward to hearing from others.  Just because we don't agree with each other should not stop us from making a comment and sharing our views.   Feel free to comment anytime.
