Money Allocation = Satifaction? I say nope.
| The Pocatello Police Department needs to step up their game. Their response times are sickening. A few weeks ago, I spent 45 minutes waiting for an officer to show up while I stopped a drunk driver from moving her car. They are allocated a considerable amount of the city's budget. It takes me approximately 15-20 minutes to drive from one end of Chubbuck to the West Bench of Pocatello. I mean come on! They like to pick and choose their battles, as long as it benefits them. Meth is bad. I agree. But is that really going to be the department's only fight? I won't get into their stupid speed traps and petty code enforcement. Bottom line: No, I am not satisfied with the 'job' they're doing. | |

What Do They Do All Day?
| I agree with the first comment. What do they do all day? I would be interested to see the budget the city pays for this police department. Writing speeding tickets is the most lame thing an officer can do. (Don't worry I have a clean record.) I would like to see police officers do more PR instead of act like bad-asses wherever they go. What I would REALLY like to see is a merger of Pocatello/Chubbuck/County under a "Metro Police" ran by a real Sheriff. That way when we had problems and the Sheriff ignored us we could vote in a solution. So in conclusion, am I satisfied with the job the Pocatello Police Department is doing? No. They are sucking money out of Pocatello and not offering us anything in return. | |

| I really think that they have a tough job, and their are a few that have bad ass complex overall they do help. I had a case this weekend were my son made a bad choice and took some items from a store and didn't pay for them. This was a bad choice, and I understand the police have to follow through but they had three cop cars and 5 if not 6 police man at his home this was 3.30am and maybe it was a slow night to me that seemed a little over kill. Overall the police do try to help and for that I am thankful | |

| Absolutely not!!!! Too much time and effort on drunk driving, not that anyone should drive drunk, and when they do they should be punished. However, it is not the only crime out there. There are way too many murders unsolved in this town. Just because drunk drivers are quick revenue doesn't mean that is the only thing the department should be involved in. | |

| I would say yes if writing speeding tickets and hassling people for tinted windows was their only job description. I think its funny how the PPD operates. They pretty much only hire return missionaries that have never even done a bad thing their entire lives so when they actually see something bad they have no idea how to react. Its funny I have known people who didn't get hired on at the PPD all because they admitted to smoking weed once in their lifetime and it was like 3 years before they even applied but they were denied the job because they were such bad people. Wake up PPD some of your officers now wouldnt even know what alcohol or weed smells like because they have gone their entire lives being the perfect mormon. | |

| I had a car stolen here in town, reported in stolen via 911 on a monday morning. After checking back several times day after day to see if anything was found, on thursday of the same week, when I called I was told they were wanting to talk to me, my car had been located, and they asked if I had left the scene of the accident! My car was totalled in a high speed accident, where the suspects fled. After several times contacting the detectives asking them to fingerprint the numerous items "not mine" strewn throughout the vehicle, I was told " THIS IS'NT TV "! If this had been somebody of importance's automobile, they may have at least looked into it, lets you know where you stand in the community! | |

RE: NO!

| WOW, The Chief of Police called me this morning to let me know that they were looking into my case, he himself had reviewed the details, and that it was'nt just filled away! After talking with Chief Miller for a few minutes about the ongoing investigation, I feel much better. Pocatello is a GREAT place to live, we sometimes dont realize how good we have it here, until you live somewhere else. THANKS. | |

Oh Boy!
| Got stopped a few nights ago coming home from a lecture(ISU) and dinner. The lights were blazing through the window, I was in a pretty dangerous situation, right at the entrance to the freeway on ramp! Why was I pulled over? "Your brights were on hi beam" okay then, sorry about that! "In Pocatello your lights are to be dimmed at least 500 feet to approaching traffic"(most drivers dont participate in that rule) Got it, over sight on my part! "let me see your license, proof of insurance, registration" My wife is in the back seat, he wants her license also, he wants my passengers license, then he wants me out of the car to perform a soberity test,(I dont drink) CDL back ground check to boot! (no K-9 visit?) what a waste of time, the cop's SUV running the whole while, about thirty to forty mins, me standing in the road, the "real deal" By the way, didn't get a ticket,(no tickets, no accidents in over a million miles of driving) probably could have. Bottom line here, the Pocatello police shop needs to get professional, bone up on "how to find the who done its" betcha the shop vac could of turned up some real evidence in a few of the unsolved crimes."maybe Keystone?" | |

How to find an officer when you need one
| If you are ever in need of assistance in a HURRY, go to City Hall and question the Mayor or any of the City Council members or for even faster service question Mary Remer or Nancy Ferris and you will IMMEDIATELY see 6 or more officers at your beck and call. | |

Domestic violence not taken seriously and reports written with grade-school innaccuracy
| After a protection order I systematically reported every violation and possible violation. Months later, a lietenant tells me not to make more reports. I later find out they forwarded almost none of the violations for prosecutor review and had egregious misunderstanding of the electronic stalking I was reporting. While some I grant would have been difficult to prosecute because of hidden IPs, several were crystal clear backed by. Multiple facts, confession (!) Of the violator, and corroborating statements from others not a party to the action. I felt more in fear for my safety due to their poor judgment. I understand they have to guard against frivolous or malicious reporting, but these were not grey-area cases. Do not count on the police taking, accurately recording, or acting to support your protection order. Ask for ssault charges immediately. My mistake was trusting the Pocatello police to do their job competently. | |
